What In The Name Of Jesus Are We Preaching Today?

Do preachers and teachers even know that they will give account of every vain thing they preached or taught in the name of Jesus?

Is it not why scripture warns against many becoming/desiring to be teachers, taking up teaching as a profession; teaching what they ought not to, saying & affirming things they neither know nor understand?

Again is it not why scripture warns that the judgment of teachers will be stricter and they will receive the greater condemnation if they offend in word? James 3:1-2 and 1st Timothy 1:7.

Do the preachers/teachers of today even know that it is an offence to wrongly teach/present the word of God; that in doing so, God is dishonoured & not hallowed, Christ is misrepresented & the people of God are misdirected & misled?

To wrongly divide & make a mess of the word of truth is a very grave & costly thing.

Is it not why Paul in one of his epistles to Timothy warned him thus: "Give heed to thyself and to what you're teaching; continue in them; for in doing this, you shall save both thyself and those that hear thee." 1st Timothy 4:16

If the teacher fails to give heed to put self under and to constantly scrutinize what he's teaching to continue therein, how can he save himself & them that hear him from doctrinal errors and it's dire consequences?

Just as one of the examples James used to bring home this truth, when bits are put in the mouth of the horses to bridle them, it is to the end that their whole body might be guided/led in the right direction.
Now imagine the awful misleading/misdirection of an entire body of people aligned to the teaching from an unbridled tongue, the tongue of a teacher whose ears have not pierced as a bond/perpetual servant of Christ(Exodus 21:5-6) and tongue bridled to speak nothing but the words of God.

Do preachers/teachers today know that mishandling or corrupting the word of God and twisting the scriptures of truth can lead to their destruction? Please See 2nd Corinthians 2:17; 4:1-2 & 2nd Peter 3:16.

Do they know that ignorance/lack of understanding on the part of the teacher as being unlearned in the things of God, will neither excuse nor exonerate him from the dire consequences of twisting the scriptures of truth?

Where men are busy preaching themselves, projecting themselves with imposing images of themselves & spouses at meeting places, and advertising their ministry platforms to secure more congregants & followers, there also the gospel of the glory of Christ is not only veiled but lost.

Is repentance and remission of sins still being preached in the name of Jesus today?

The few who are even preaching repentance know little or nothing about the remission of sins, thus this truth of the gospel of Christ is not being brought home to the hearts of men, to expose and espouse their hearts to the wonders of the grace that is in Christ.

"Then he opened their understanding to understand the scriptures, and said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from among the dead the third day; and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations beginning at Jerusalem." Luke 24:45-47.

And Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38.

Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, that through this man remission of sins is preached to you. Acts 13:38.

What Is Remission?

The word Remission is 'Aphesis' in the greek and it means release from bondage or imprisonment. Forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty.

It is the same word(aphesis) translated as forgiveness in Ephesians 1:7 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace".

Not a forgiveness which is just a pardon & goes with remembrance of offences but that which in itself is remission/release from the bondage, imprisonment or slavery to offences/sin & it's guilt.

Scripture says everyone who believes in Christ will receive through his name, this remission of sins - Acts 10:43.

Revelation 1:5 also speaks of this release 👇🏽

"and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and has washed us from our sins in his blood".

What is in the actual Greek rendering approved by the General Greek Editors(GEDS) is "Unto him that loveth us, and has loosened us out of our sins with his blood"

In the original greek lexicon, it is "luo‌"(loosened) & not "louo‌"(washed).

Luo means to " loosen" (literally or figuratively): - break (up), destroy, dissolve, (un-) loose, melt. In love relationships, people often use the phrase 'break up' to speak of the end of their relationship with the object of their love/affection.

This is exactly what happens to the sinner who comes to believe in Christ, he or she has broken up with his sins and that marks an end of that affectionate/love relationship with sin.

Luo in the Greek lexicon is a verb in part of speech and in tense, it's not just a past tense but aorist which is a perfective past; expressing a perfective aspect of the past.

Christ has perfectly loosened us from and out of our sins with his own blood. It thus speaks of remission; a release from the bondage, imprisonment or slavery to sin with it's guilt.

Note this remission of sins has only been procured with his own blood; he "has loosened us out of our sins with his blood".

Hebrews 9:22 clearly states that without shedding of blood there is no remission. There's no other place where the blood of Christ was shed for the remission of sins but on the cross.

It's very important to note this as lately i was appalled seeing a good preacher i know on social media arguing against this clear truth of scripture, vaguely trying to prove that remission of sins was possible before the death of Christ on the cross.
