Where Is The Evidence Of Your Sonship & Of God's Faithfulness In Your Life?

The first temptation which satan threw at Jesus is what he is throwing at God's faithful servants and people through peddlers of the false prosperity gospel, who equate material prosperity to godliness. One might ask how? Kindly follow me as we briefly consider that which is noted in the scriptures of truth for our learning.

The first commandment God gave the first man in the garden of Eden was on what to eat & what not to eat.

The temptation was also on the ground of what God had said bordering on food as the serpent said..."Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" (Genesis 3:1).

The first temptation satan threw at Jesus(the second man) in the wilderness, where he was driven into by the HolySpirit to be tempted, also borders on food..."if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones may become loaves of bread". But Jesus answering said "It is written, Man shall not love by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from God's mouth"(Matthew 4:1-4).

He was led of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil, and the devil(the tempter) showed up after he had fasted for forty days and nights, and was famished, extremely hungry and in dire need of food.

Think about this: the Son of God by whom all things were made and for whom all things were made(the heir of all things) was here in the wilderness suffering hunger & need, what apparently was an absolute contradiction of who he is, as the owner of all things, with every resource in the universe at his command. The tempter shows up and without wasting time, shoots his first temptation on that point of his suffering, questioning his sonship.

The response of Jesus drawn from the scripture in Deuteronomy 8:3, is a truth and discipline God will go to any length to press home in the hearts of his people in these last days, even if it means thoroughly shaking the nations & the global economy, as is already happening.

Just as he did to the children of Israel in Egypt; how he shook Egypt, took them out of Egypt & dependence on the economy of Egypt, brought them into the wilderness, humbled them, suffered them to hunger & fed them with manna(a type of the bread from heaven which is the Word of God), to the end that they might learn & know that man does not live by bread only but by every word which proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Concerning Jesus, Hebrews 5:7 says though he was a Son yet he learnt obedience, conformity to the will of the Father by the things he suffered. 1st Peter 2:21 says he has left us an example to follow his steps, thus like him, we are also to learn obedience by the fellowship of his suffering, though we are the sons of God through faith in him.

This fellowship of Christ's suffering, following his steps, learning obedience & patience in conformity to the will of God, is what present day christendom despises and rarely preaches because conformity to Christ is not what they are after, neither is it what the people want to hear.

As earlier said, the temptation which satan threw at Jesus is what he is throwing at God's faithful servants and people through peddlers of the false prosperity gospel, who equate material prosperity to godliness.

Scripture commands us to withdraw from such for if we continue in fellowship with them, our faith will be gradually eroded by the swelling words of vanity they preach & teach. (1st Timothy 6:5-6).

To them, material prosperity, growth, greatness & promotion in societal status is an evidence of God's presence.

The evidence for them is not faith in God which is the evidence of the unseen anchored on the diligent pursuit of the invisible God(Hebrews 11:1-6).

The evidence which they speak of and passionately seek, even in prayer, is material prosperity, breakthrough & miracles.

Satan saying to Jesus: "If thou be the Son of God speak/command that these stones become loaves of bread", is like saying where is the evidence of your Sonship?

If you are the Son of God why are you suffering hardship and hunger? 

Why is nothing moving in your life? 

Why are you not making any meaningful progress in life from year to year?

Where is the evidence of God's faithfulness in your life?

Why are you not yet married? 

Why don't you have children yet even after 10 years of marriage?

Why are you surrounded with stones(hardship) and not loaves of bread (provision/supply)? 

Show the evidence of your Sonship by commanding these stones to become loaves of bread.

Many of God's people in religious centers and platforms where the pursuit of the bread which perishes, is the focus with material prosperity & wellbeing projected as the evidence of godliness, are being made to think that something must be wrong with their spiritual life/walk if they are not seeing this evidence of material prosperity & progress in this world.

Such thinking/mindset brings them into perpetual bondage, where they keep praying & looking for deliverance, running from one religious prayer house or platform to another.

In John 6:24-26 it is remarkable to note that though the people were physically seeking/looking for Jesus, moving from coast to coast in search of him, their hearts was actually not after him, but after the bread that perishes.

May God deliver his people from religious captors and from the mentality of perpetual bondage sold to them. May the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ shine into our hearts and emancipate us from vanity & ephemeral/worldly pursuits, to seek & labour for the true bread from heaven which lasts/endures unto eternal life - John 6:27.
