THE SONS OF ISSACHAR: THE 'REBELS' OF THE PRESENT-DAY CHURCH SYSTEM & THE DIRE NEED FOR TRUE SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT.


In 1st Chronicles 12:32 scripture speaks of the sons of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do. 

This is a scripture most of us are familiar with as it is loved and often quoted by preachers, but have we ever cared to keenly study and see/know the context in which these sons of Issachar were spoken of as men who had understanding of the times?

If we go back a bit to verses 22 and read down to 32 we can glean from scriptures, a better understanding of the context and what the Spirit is saying in these inspired words of scripture.

22-32  "For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God. And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD. The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war. Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred. Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred. And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred; And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father's house twenty and two captains. And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul. And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their fathers. And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king. And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment."

The sons of Issachar were numbered among the host that came to David in Hebron to help him, a host ready & armed for war, to turn the kingdom of Saul over to David, according to the word of the LORD.

They were particularly noted as a people who had understanding of the times, they knew that spiritually there was a shift, a transition and change of guards/leadership over Israel; spiritually they understood that though Saul was still on the throne over Israel, he had lost the kingdom, and the kingdom was about to be given over to David.

In the new testament, much more are we to function in spiritual understanding and discernment of the times, to discern times of divine transition especially in this endtime; to discern the Saulish generational leaders in the church who have trifled with the word of God and have taken up sacrifice to make up for their wilful disobedience, as though they can manipulate God; a generation of leadership which values and exalts sacrifice(offering/seed sowing) above obedience to God, a generation of leadership which even in disobedience and disregard of the word of God yet seeks to be honoured, obeyed & followed by men. A generation of leadership which sees those who function in keen spiritual discernment and understanding of God's word as a threat to their rule and control over men.

There is a dire need for God's people to function in keen spiritual understanding & discernment in these last days, in order to know that though these Saulish generational leaders are still on the throne/in authority, they have lost the kingdom and God is moving to turn the kingdom over to the rising Davidic generation. 

The Davidic generation is a generation whose obsession is the Lord Jesus, whom God in prophetic scriptures refers to as "my servant David"(Ezekiel 34:23-24; 37:24-25); the passion & longing of the Davidic generation is to see the Lord enthroned and reigning over his people as the supreme and only head of the body, the church. The Davidic generation is wholly after the heart of God, and to see the church subject to the Lord Jesus in all things.

There is also the Jonathanian generation who love the Davidic generation; they are attracted to the truth of God, nurse an affection for truth & know that the Saulish generation(their fathers) have lost the kingdom though still enthroned, but their commitment and family ties to the Saulish generation seem to be stronger than their attraction and affection for truth, such that they can't break free from their denominational affiliations and roots; this generation, unless they get a clean break and metamorphose into the Davidic generation, will sadly go down in this endtime battle with the Sauls.

It will take keen spiritual understanding for us not to be cajoled or petrified by those that will describe this move as nothing but rebellion or revolt against authority.

It is not a revolt but a divine transition move by the Word of the Lord to change/remove the authority which is no longer in submission/aligned to heaven; an authority which has become a tool in the hands of satan to label God's Davids as rebels, to pursue, persecute and even seek to kill them.

For standing in alignment with the truth, the sons of Issachar(men of understanding & discernment) are vilified by this present-day church system and labelled as rebels/ accusers of the brethren, but they must not be deterred or cowered into spiritual numbness & insensitivity. 

We must remain a people of keen spiritual understanding & discernment to function in this move of God. 

The word of the Lord has been so trifled with & even perverted by many who are on the vanguard of church leadership today, and the name of the Lord is being blasphemed and ridiculed amongst the gentiles and uncircumcised philistines, the giant(lust & sin) in the land is raging like Goliath, and the camp of the Lord's people are cowering & cringing in fear.

Who will rise to the occasion & contend with the enemies at the gate, to shut the mouth of roaring lions & quiet/still the blasphemous voice of the fierce warrior arrayed in battle against the Lord's camp?

"Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings has God ordained strength because of his enemies, that he might still the enemy and the avenger." - a Psalm of David, a Davidic generation, the host of God - Psalms 8:2; 1st Chronicles 12:22.


May God help us to be found as such in his sight, a Davidic generation after the heart of God, who will do all his will and pleasure, without turning aside from anything he wants/commands us to do.
