Much Ado About Christmas Day.

The commemoration of the birth of Christ on the 25th of December globally known as Christmas day, has been an issue of much theological and historical debate. Some theologians and historians argue that Christ was not born on the 25th of December, and some speak of the pagan origins of the yuletide.

The bible does not speak of the exact birth date of Christ or of any of the apostles, but we do know by the scriptures that Christ became flesh and was born as a man on a certain day, and in relation to his being born, heaven greatly rejoiced, knowing the significance of his incarnation and birth in the great redemption plan. Luke 2:8-14.

Also the angel of the Lord brought the message of Christ's birth to shepherds who watched their flocks by night; which message he called 'good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people'.

Luke 2:10-11.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

"Unto you is born this day...a saviour" remains so, though there be much controversy about the exact date, which scripture is silent on. However, one thing is undeniable, the word/prophecy the angel of the Lord brought from heaven to the shepherds, has been fulfilled and is being fulfilled....the message of Christ's birth remains good tidings of great joy to all people, till date.

Am not a fan of the frenzy and frenetic festivity of the Xmas season, but i acknowledge and relish the wonders of the grace expressed by God in the incarnation/birth of Christ; and whether it is on the 25th of December or any other day makes no difference, for christians are not called to observe days and months as in the old testament Jewish feast days, which were shadows; but to hold unto the substance which is Christ.
The much ado about the exact date or month of Christ's birth is thus a distraction, like being bothered about shadows instead of laying hold on the substance, which is Christ and the significance of his incarnation birth in the redemption plan of God.
Galatians 4:9-11; Colossians 2:16-22.

The joy gathered around his birth/coming into this world to save us, is a joy the believer in Christ is brought into by the Holyspirit and that joy is not merely seasonal but eternal.
