Time To Redeem The Time Part 3.

The Dire Need For Spiritual Sensitivity.

Ephesians 2:1-2 "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience".

5:14-18"Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit"

The scripture texts above, lifted from the 2nd and 5th chapters of the book of Ephesians, presents to us three important points:

(1.) Spiritual Deadness In Sins And Tresspasses: a state which every man born into this world, comes into at birth; but which only faith in the Lord Jesus can save and awaken the soul from.

(2.) Spiritual Quickening/Awakening: the awakening from spiritual deadness and darkness, by receiving the spiritual life and light which only Christ gives. This is known as the new birth experience.

(3.) Spiritual Sensitivity And Discernment In Being Filled With The Spirit: Walking circumspectly, redeeming the time by discerning and understanding what the will of the Lord is; not insensitive and numb as fools drunk with wine, but as a people filled with the Holy Spirit, and by reason of that, spiritually sensitive and alert.

For there to be spiritual sensitivity, there must first be a spiritual quickening/awakening from deadness and darkness to life and light. Spiritual sensitivity is only but a myth where there is no spiritual life, no repentance from dead works to turn to the living God by faith in Christ Jesus, no quickening from deadness to the life and light which Christ alone gives.
It is when we receive the spiritual life from Christ who, as the last Adam, is a life giving spirit; that we can begin to walk in his light, to see things clearly as they are, to hear his voice as his sheep; and to fellowship with his HolySpirit whom he sent in his name(on his behalf), to practically guide us into all truth. John 16:12-13; 1 Corinthians 15:45.

However, spiritual sensitivity is beyond just having spiritual sight or insight, or hearing from God;  it is to live in the awareness and consciousness of the HolySpirit as the sole guide into all truth, to be livingly in touch and in tune with his promptings, guidance and leading, knowing fully well the dangers/implications of not following as led by him, while still professing to be sons of the living God. Romans 8:13-15; Galatians 5:18; 4:1-7.

We can have spiritual life and light, and yet not be spiritually sensitive. Concerning the church/people of God at Corinth, born again into spiritual life/light and sanctified in Christ Jesus, it was yet revealed that they were carnal and walking after/according to men/the flesh. A very sorry and sad state of saints, which only the light of scriptures as inspired by the HolySpirit could reveal.  They were carnal, and the apostle could not speak unto them as unto spiritual but as carnal. They had spiritual gifts/manifestations of the Spirit; they often gathered together in one place to fellowship and worship the Lord; they were zealously engrossed and engaged in what they had believed and embraced as christianity, yet they were carnal being led by men/the flesh, and not by the HolySpirit. Despite their religious zeal and supposed exposure to the things of God, they were yet as natural men, who could not receive the things of the Spirit of God. However, the apostle said to them "we have the mind of Christ". They had the mind of Christ but were not walking according to the mind of Christ/after the Spirit of Christ, they were carnally minded, minding the things of the flesh and the things of men. They needed to be reawakened to the mind of Christ, and thus unlock their spiritual mindset and sensitivity in Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:2; 2:10-14, 16; 3:1; Romans 8:5-7.
