The church in Corinth was walking in manifestation of spiritual gifts like gifts of healing, working of miracles, word of wisdom, prophecy, different kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues, etc; It was such that they came short of no spiritual gift as acknowledged by scripture (1st Corinthians 1:4-7). This is a church we would readily judge today as spiritually sound, mature/grown but scripture goes on to show us that functioning in spiritual gifts is not a mark of spiritual maturity, as the apostle in the 3rd chapter of 1st Corinthians says to this same church that was walking in manifestation of spiritual gifts: "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
