Understanding The Gospel Of The Kingdom In The Light Of So Great Salvation.

"The gospel of salvation is only 10% of the kingdom; the gospel of the kingdom makes up the remaining 90%. The epistles help build believers, but for societal influence and national transformation, we must go beyond the epistles and the salvation message into the gospel of the kingdom."

Words spoken/taught by a certain preacher in an ongoing christian conference, which many considered as a very powerful & great teaching, but how true are these assertions?

Are they scriptural?

To answer this, it is important for us to note that discipleship is unto the kingdom(Matthew 13:52), and in the epistles of the apostles we have so great salvation in view, from it's beginning to it's consummation at the Lord's appearing unto all eternity, and we have kingdom discipleship.

It is thus strange for a preacher to assert that we must go beyond the epistles & the salvation message into the gospel of the kingdom.

Such an assertion implies that the epistles of the apostles is void of the gospel of the kingdom and that's a blatant lie.

For example, what gospel was Paul preaching here in his epistle to saints in Corinth? 👇🏽

Dare any one of you, having a matter against another, prosecute his suit before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not then know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy of the smallest judgments? Do ye not know that we shall judge angels? and not then matters of this life? If then ye have judgments as to things of this life, set those to judge who are little esteemed in the assembly. I speak to you to put you to shame. Thus there is not a wise person among you, not even one, who shall be able to decide between his brethren! But brother prosecutes his suit with brother, and that before unbelievers. Already indeed then it is altogether a fault in you that ye have suits between yourselves. Why do ye not rather suffer wrong? why are ye not rather defrauded? But ye do wrong, and defraud, and this your brethren. Do ye not know that unrighteous persons shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who make women of themselves, nor who abuse themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor abusive persons, nor the rapacious, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1st Corinthians 6:1-10.

*See also what he wrote in his epistle to saints in Ephesus, where he also dwelt on kingdom discipleship(Ephesians 5:5-15).

Note: In 1st Corinthians 6:1-10 he spoke of the world to come; the kingdom/millennial world, when the saints shall judge the world.

He went on to dwell on kingdom discipleship; moral conduct & walk consistent with the kingdom we have been called to receive and how in the context of discipleship unto the kingdom, people indulging in moral vices while professing to be disciples of the kingdom, will not inherit/literally enter the kingdom.

In Hebrews 2:3-5 scripture speaks of so great or so vast salvation and shows the inheritance that goes with the so great salvation which is the world to come(kingdom/millennial world) which has been put in subjection not to angels but to the new humanity in Christ. 👇🏽

"How shall we escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken of by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard; God bearing, besides, witness with them to it , both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his will? For he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come, of which we speak".

Indeed it takes one who has been negligent or ignorant of the so great salvation to assert that we must go beyond the salvation message into the gospel of the kingdom, as though the message of salvation does not have the kingdom & the eternal glory to come in view.

Peter in his epistle, dwelt on kingdom discipleship, the world(millennial/kingdom age) to come, and the eternal kingdom/state, and also acknowledged that Paul had also written of these things gathered around our salvation, in his own epistles; things which the unlearned and unstable twist to their own destruction - See 2nd Peter 1:3-11 & 3:7-16.

It is thus absolutely wrong to assert that we must go beyond the epistles & the salvation message into the gospel of the kingdom.

Such an assertion is tantamount to saying that the apostles didn't preach the kingdom in their epistles, and it's not true.

In conclusion, the gospel of salvation is not only 10% of the kingdom while the gospel of the kingdom makes up the remaining 90%.

The gospel of salvation which is the gospel of Christ, is all encompassing, and includes the announcement/preaching of the coming kingdom, in view of which, men are called to repentance and the obedience of faith amongst the nations, thus are the nations of men discipled unto the kingdom.
