The Church Is Under Attack.

Often we hear believers say the church is under attack, the church is being divided etc.

Sadly, the real attack on the church is the least discerned; it's systemic, endemic, very subtle with no hostility but hospitality in the arms of infidelity, and it is WORLDLINESS.

As early as the days of the early church, it was worldly wisdom which crept into the church in Corinth, that bred divisions & religious hero worship even along the lines of affiliations to true ministers of the gospel of Christ, and it led to such false assertions as: "I am of Paul, I am of Apollos, I am of Cephas" - a declaration of membership and belonging to ministers instead of Christ, who is the one Head over all & uniting all members as the one from whom the entire body is derived & the one all is to grow into, unto the measure of the stature of his fullness.

This very subtle and sinister attack of worldly wisdom against the church has been on for centuries and has waxed & prospered greatly today, being largely undetected and undiscerned.

It is the foundation of every division and carnality you find in the church today amongst believers, so next time someone one says the church is under attack, the church is being divided, think about this, for it is the root of the matter.

The one and only solution to it is clinging to nothing but Christ and Him crucified, just as the apostle amid all the division in the church in Corinth, boldly declared: "I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." (1st Corinthians 2:2).

We must be determined not to know nothing, not to glory in anything save the cross of Christ, which is the hidden wisdom of God predetermined before the ages for our glory(vs. 2:7)

To those caught up in hero worship & great admiration of human vessels used by God such that they glory in men/ministers of the gospel like the Corinthian saints, the apostle says:

"Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's." (1st Corinthians 3:21-23).
In Galatians 6:14, he declares his unreserved & undivided allegiance in clinging to the cross of Christ: "God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world."

Can we say like him God forbid that I should glory in anyother save in the cross of Christ?
Glorying only in that cross where the saviour bore our sins, shame and reproach?

Glorying in that cross by which we are dead to the world as crucified to it and the world dead to us?

This is the only way of absolute victory over the corruption of worldliness and staying completely off it's ground and hold.
