The Agony And Burden Of A Nation @ 59.

Image
The Agony & Burden Of A Nation @ 59. Which is easier to say? "Happy Independence!" Or "Happy New Month"? When you live in a nation where for the past 59 years, provision of basic infrastructure has been a promise and struggle for successive governments to achieve, it's such a burden to say a happy 59th. When you live in a nation in the 21st century, where power supply and access to clean water is a luxury, it's such a heaviness and agony of heart to say happy independence; especially in the face of a glaring fact that it is a nation so blessed with natural resources, and men/women who are so capaciously resourced and resourceful. When you live in a nation where money is so revered and valued above everything including human lives, and such a flawed and dangerous value system is the fabric/core of society; it is such a heavy burden which often leaves those whose contemplation and grouse it is, utterly speechless and helpless in the face of a s...

A Nation Engulfed By The Fear Of Men.

Image
There is much darkness in the land, the nation is engulfed in the darkness of the fear of man/men. According to scriptures, the fear of man brings a snare; thus the people/citizens are ensnared and held in bondage/slavery to men who speak tough and walk roughly like they're sovereign/almighty, and can curse, kill and make alive, whomsoever they will. Some speak like they own the people of God, others walk like they own the nation and her armed forces, while some traverse the length and breadth of the nation like the lives and breath of it's citizens lies in their hands, and they can kill anyone they like, and possess any land they want.  The oppression and suppression in the land is so much, that it leads to deep depression whereby many contemplate suicide.  From the pulpits to the corridors of power in the institutions of government, to the forced grazing fields and streets of our nation, we see the pride, pomp and glory of these men who walk around and p...

False Assertions About Sin. Part 8.

False Assertions Addressed By John.  *  "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth" 1 John 1:6 In the scriptures of truth, darkness is so often related to sin as though synonymous with it. Soon as man touched/meddled with sin in the garden, the entire human race was plunged into darkness; thus, the first and most spontaneous reaction Adam & Eve had to the rays of the bright presence of God, when he came walking in the garden, was to flee and hide from the light of his presence.  In the dark shade of the branches and leaves of the trees of the garden, they sought for shelter and a covering from the light of God's presence. Genesis 3:8-13. The Lord Jesus in John 3:19-21 said: "t his is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved  darkness  rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, ...

False Assertions About Sin. Part 7.

(False Assertions Addressed By John) Having dealt with three false assertions about sin, John went ahead to address other related false assertions like: "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him" (1 John 2:4). Those who profess to know the Lord and yet play down on the need for obedience/keeping his commandments, are liars and do not have the truth in them. Paul the apostle in his letter to Titus puts it this way: "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." Titus 1:16. Some wrongly assert/teach that Paul preached salvation by grace through faith and said nothing about good works. Paul taught that salvation is the gift of God and not of works, yet he maintained the truth that at new birth, we are created in Christ unto good works, which God preordained that we should walk in.  "For by ...

False Assertions About Sin. Part 6.

False Assertions Addressed By John.  (3.) "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."  1 John 1:10. This is the third false assertion about sin, which John the apostle dealt with. I know you must have heard some preachers/christians today teaching that the new creation man does not have a past; that the new creation man is not the man that Christ died for, that the new creation is not the redeemed for he never existed prior to his birth in Christ. I was once in a service in 2001 when a renown preacher/televangelist, in a bid to demonstrate and pass across this teaching, brought out two men, and put one of them infront and said that is the sinner, that is the man that Christ died for, the man that was redeemed; he can sing: 'Amazing grace...that saved a wretch like me'; he can sing the songs of redemption.  He then led the second man out and said that is the new creation man, the man who has no past; that is ...

False Assertions About Sin. Part 5.

False Assertions Addressed By John. (2.)  "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8 This is the second false assertion about sin, John the apostle dealt with. Today, this assertion will sell very well as an assurance of salvation, and a profession/declaration of faith; "I have no sin in me"! However, the greatest of all deceptions, which is SELF Deception, is bound up with this assertion. Those who speak this way deliberately deceive themselves, for they know within themselves the struggles they have with besetting sins in their vile/mortal flesh. The modern day version of this false assertion is: "Sin is dead! Sin no longer Exists". I know you must have heard some professing christians making such claims lately, and you probably felt it's a new discovery or doctrine they stumbled on. No! It's not new, it's just a modernised version of an ancient heresy, which christians...

False Assertions About Sin. Part 4.

False Assertions About Sin. Part 4. Before we continue from where we stopped, let me build a little background of shocking biblical truths.  Have you ever wondered why the first epistle of John focused on addressing false assertions about sin? Have you ever wondered why in addressing them John always used the phrase "if we say" and not if they say? For example:  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.  1 John 1:6, 8, 10. These false assertions were not the confession of unbelievers(those without), but the false profession of faith which those who have come to believe and were members of the church(those within the fold), suddenly began to embrace and to live by. As early as the days of the apostles of the early church, many had ris...

False Assertions About Sin Part 3.

"The Faith Of Christ Does Not Demand We Stop Sinning To Be Acceptable To God." The gospel of salvation in the name of Jesus, right from it's commencement at Pentecost had always emphasised repentance for the remission(pardon/forgiveness and freedom from sin). Acts 2:38 As the saviour could not obtain/secure the remission of sins for us without the shedding of his blood, we cannot receive the remission of sins in his name(secured/obtained for us in his name), without repentance. Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:22. Every true faith in the message of Jesus as the only saviour and as the only name by which men can be saved from their sins, goes with repentance of sins. Luke 24:47; Acts 3:19; 20:21. The meaning of the name 'Jesus' is he that saves from sins, the saviour of mankind.  Matthew 1:21; Acts 4:12. If we are yet to be saved from our sins, then we have not allowed  the name 'Jesus' to live up to it's true meaning in our lives.  What o...
